Scottish Premiership betting

The 2021/22 Scottish Premiership returns this weekend with a top two tussle leading proceedings as Rangers welcome Hearts to Ibrox.

Can the title holders pull four points clear of their closest rivals with a win on Saturday afternoon?

We’re back with our next set of Scottish Premiership predictions…

Scottish Premiership 2021/22 Preview | Weekend Games

After deposing one Edinburgh side on home soil prior to the international break, Rangers will be looking to make it a quickfire double this weekend as high-flying Hearts make the trip to Glasgow.

The Jam Tarts are putting the last remaining unbeaten record on the line at Ibrox after picking up five wins and three draws from their opening eight matches and can take confidence from their most recent encounters with the Old Firm giants.

Rangers vs Hearts betting

The visitors could make it three wins on the spin against Rangers with a surprise win on Saturday having shaded both of the last two contests at Tynecastle.

Backing a first success for Hearts at Ibrox since 2014?

It’s an intriguing 91/20 should you fancy the upset.

After easing some of the pressure building around him with victory at Aberdeen last time out, can Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou rack up consecutive wins on his SPFL travels for the first time since his arrival in June?

The Australian will be relieved the international fortnight hasn’t overly hampered preparations for his side’s trip to Motherwell, with key men Kyogo Furuhashi and Tom Rogic both coming through their international commitments unscathed this week.

This looks by no means an easy assignment for the Bhoys, with ‘Well in imperious form at Fir Park so far this campaign, bar coming out the wrong end of a thrilling five-goal battle with Hibs on the opening day.

It’s 27/5 for the hosts to continue that encouraging start with victory in this fixture for the first time since 2013.

Can Hibernian hit back at the first time of asking after losing their unbeaten start at Rangers?

The Hibees briefly threatened to throw up a new twist in the title race when taking an early lead at Ibrox, before Ryan Porteous’ early red card helped switch momentum back in the host’s favour in the second half.

Improving Dundee Utd are the opponents this weekend at Easter Road, with the Tangerines looking to stretch their unbeaten league run to five games.

It’s 14/5 for the two sides to play out a stalemate here.

St Johnstone are up and running after brushing off their sluggish start to the campaign when swatting Dundee aside 3-1 prior to the break.

That result has eased Callum Davidson’s charges away from danger for the time being.

They could add to that comfort blanket with victory over a lightweight Livingston this Saturday, with a chronic lack of goals David Martindale’s overriding issue to fix as the Lions return to action.

It’s 21/5 for the Saints to shade it and BTTS if you fancy the improving hosts to at least be momentarily troubled by a Livi team looking to breach an opposition defence for only a second time in six matches.

Will this be the weekend struggling Ross County finally get off the mark?

The Staggies are still searching for their first win of the campaign at the ninth time of asking but could be meeting in-form St Mirren at just the wrong time, with the Buddies calming any early relegation concerns with back-to-back wins before the break.

It’s 133/100 for them to bring up the hat-trick here and pile more pressure on Malky Mackay.

Finally, two more managers who might well be suffering similarly sleepless nights to Mackay trade blows in Saturday’s late kick-off.

It’s been a sobering return to the top flight so far for toothless Dundee, who remain winless after the first three months of the campaign.

The Dark Blues did finally manage to end a four-game dry spell in-front of goal with a late consolation in their 3-1 defeat at St Johnstone last time out.

James McPake will be hoping that small crumb of comfort helps inspire his side to a much-needed victory against an Aberdeen team now without a win in any competition since mid-August.

With confidence low on both sides, it’s unlikely to be a classic at Dens Park.

The bore draw could be worth backing at 73/10 in what seems destined to be a risk-averse contest in Tayside.
